New coy happenings

Not really a very eventful week I must say..

1) Been onboard a vessel and worked till night (NO OT PAY)
2) Been tossed around like a rag doll running errands
3) Paperworks thrown at me within the 1st week
4) Meet some workers (mostly blangalas) and found they're really okay
5) Been to a high-level sales meeting and met the MD for the 1st time
6) Shopped ard in a heartland mall buying my safety boots, helmet and googles
7) Wore a 'teletubby' white overall to work. (comical)

Adwin and Eric had been nice and patient with me till now. K (the ASM which I am replacing) knew I was gonna take over him afterall. But K is not leaving the coy, but he is doing something else when i take over his job. so i reckon we wont have any bad blood. but I DID NOTICED that his ability to communicate with me is minimal.

The MD just joined the coy 4 mths ago, taken over all the duties from the out-going MD. he's not a very easy man to get along. He's extremely disciplined and was sharp in taking note of things. Infact, I was chided for being late in the sales meeting when he shook my hand. *Malu*

Well, the story goes like this, Adwin wanted me to sit in the sales meeting that day, and everyone in the sales department was there. Must have been 10+ ppl. and the MD came in, talked some trash and Adwin says is there anyone he never meet or know.. so everyone wanna help the MD, some high-level mgrs was looking in my direction as he speaks. So I reckon I volunteer to introduce myself rather than acting like a dumb-mute.

I stood up and raised my voice across the conference room. "Hi my name is east, and I work for New building dept. Looking forward to all your guidance and suppport!"

So the MD heard and said "east eh? Welcome to G" and proceed to shook my hand.

In anticipation I shook back, and says "Thank you Sir!"

then he spoke, "I noticed you're late today? 815am and your car came in."

-then everyone laffed. -

Its not a kind of laff I liked. Its the kind of laff that means Oh-no-I-make-Adwin-malu-by-coming-to-work-late-on-my-first-week-at-work-and-he-looks-like-he-will-murder-me-later. Call me sensitive, but in the eyes of the high-level ppl, even stealing their stationaries contradicts to a death sentence.

So on Sat, (half day) K told me that Adwin is looking for me. So I goes inside his office and sure enough he mentioned about the MD comments on that weekday meeting.

I did explained that it was raining at the KJE that day and there was a jam, and funnily enough it wasnt raining in Benoi. (or else I could have arrived at 8am sharp)

He isnt repriminding me, but sure, I have his message across. He also mentioned that I always have my polo-tee collar up and asked if this is my style. (But it is my style, coz my neck isnt really long, so I covered it up)

He says its not professional and maybe I shld do something about it. When your boss' boss says something about it. BETTER LISTEN. I am gonna wear my PSM usual office clothes to work the next week. Sleeves rolled up of course.

And of course, the white tele-tubby affair. pretty funny to wear overall to work and onboard a ship. being a long time since I ever wore one since my poly ITP days. White is for enggrs and execs who goes onboard. Workers wore blue. So I reckon that means the white and blue collared difference.

I haben tried wearing my helmet of course. but its inside my car boot. The boots itself is quite heavy and uncomforable. There's steel plates on my soles of the boot and very thick on the bottom. For safety sake I have to wear it.

The politics in the office I have not figured out as yet. One thing I knew is that my late-ness to work comments had spread across the HR, some depts and even some of their mothers and fathers. For a simple comment if I not sure it had been blown out of proportion, I suppose there is nothing i can do about it. HR is being treated like God there. So is the accounts dept.

Some of the ladies there is single and available, which I heard from giving a lady from another dept (she is married) when she tried to get a lift from Eric, I told Eric I would give her a lift since she is going to Woodlands as I am on my way home.

Call me stubborn,but I had no interest watsoever, office romance is tantamount of hindering my success in here. STRONGLY OBJECTED TO this kinda affair.

Rumors in here spread very fast. Even the pay,profits,bonuses of indivudual dept. This is something Adwin hated. (Dept 6x had the biggest payout of course must hush mah, wait some green-eyes monsters from other dept buey song how?)

I have not gotten my first pay from G as yet. but the 1.2K transport allowance ballooned my basic pay to a sum which PSM cant compare. this 1.2K is non-deductable from CPF and requires no declaration for vehicle usage. Its like giving you this money but you can do watever you do with it. I feel my comfort level had returned from this lump sum. I was drastically trying to survive on PSM paycheck 2 mths back now I am quite relaxed. Travelling anyone? haha

But of course, my 3 weeks paycheck arrived from PSM yesterday. I must say this is quite a trying time for me till my next paycheck arrived. (after paying for everything)

A friend is getting married in September. hehe. knew him since alamak days. He's living near me. (no its not matt XD)

Watched Rattatouille yesterday. Long animation that last 2 hrs +. My butt is sore from all the sitting. but its still quite okay. More good movies coming soon.

Now, I am busying updating all the entries in the order book into xls format. Hope I finished it by today. Tomorrow will be better management day for me.

Hungry Ghost Praying ceremony is taken very seriously in heavy industries like the shipyards. Tomorrow is no different. I will be taking part as well. Eric told me he never did prayed on one time, and he went quite un-smoothly for the entire month. Better to believe than dont. Esp in Sales.

Till then, will let you guys know of any interesting thing I came across.
